Ingham County Take-Back Meds program is a drop-off program that is designated to take in residents' unwanted medications. Through a joint effort with local pharmacies and law enforcement, the Ingham County Health Department is able to provide residents safe and convenient access to proper medicine disposal options within their community. There are 17 pharmacies and 14 law enforcement agencies that participate with the Take-Back Meds program within Ingham County. When a resident brings their unwanted medication to a participating pharmacy, the pharmacists will sort their medication and only accept the non-controlled medication. Any controlled medication will be given back to the resident. Residents that have controlled medications are directed to go to a law enforcement drop box. In Ingham County, every law enforcement agency has a "no questions asked" drop box. Location and hours depend upon the size and convenience of the agency. Refer to www.capitalcountiescommit.org and look for disposal sites.

These participating pharmacies and law enforcement agencies do not accept medical sharps. Ingham County residents may bring and drop off sharps at our Household Hazardous Waste Collection or take them to Granger Recycling Center. Read more about sharps disposal.

Clinton County residents can find more information on medication disposal on our website here and more information on sharps disposal here.
